Our village Natal, situated in foot hills of Sahyadri ranges at Taluka Kankavli, District Sindhudurg – Maharashtra. Having geographical status such as total area land is 2532 Hectors in hilly and plane in various stages. On one side is Sahyadri range and two adjacent side are extended portion in slope of Sahyadri. On fourth side is river called GadhNadi. This river starts from 6-7 villages on upper side. Then further it travels almost 55 – 60 KM through different villages towards Arabian sea.
Approach to our village is by Konkan Railway up to Kankavli or state transport buses or private buses up to Kankavli. From Kankavli 16 KM towards Sahyadri via Nardave road. At Kanedi towards right on Nardave road. Our village starts after crossing Malhari river. And ends at approximately 4 KM stretch till village Digawale.
Village is having 883 houses as on date & local population is approximately 3000. Which is approximately 45 – 50%. Rest have shifted to city side for better education, service and business etc.
In our village is having 8 primary schools and one high school up to 12th standard. 11th& 12th standards are with faculties like Construction Technology & Basic computers. Mauli Mandir, Rameshwar Mandir is proud of our village. Also there is Purmar mandir, Maruti mandir, Datta mandir, Bhavani Mandir and many worship places like Chavhata, Isawta, Brahman sthal etc.
River Natal is passing through almost from centre of village. It originates from three different location of Sahyadri. One is named as DhakteMhoul, second is named as ThorleMhoul, and third is Mogarne. During monsoon there is heavy flow of water from numerous water falls. When it reaches to GadhNadi there is heavy flow of water. Sometime floods in to fields. Anybody can fall into love of our Natal during monsoon. Everywhere is different shades of green colour, mountains with full clouds, waterfalls and beauty of river. Our main crop is rice and depending on water availability people take other crops and vegetables also. Fruits like Mango, cashew (Kaju), Jack fruit (Fanas), Jambhul, Karavand are available from march till June.
Now present generation of Natal wants to develop as Healthy and wealthy village. Want to create ample water resources, green revolution by plantation, animal husbandry, food processing etc. Want to change agriculture development in to commercial business. Want to keep present generation in Natal and trying to bring back generation from cities to Natal.
